Listen to Jay-Z on iHeartRadio

Jay-Z takes on fatherhood on the track "Jay-Z Blue (Daddy Dearest)" from his upcoming album Magna Carta Holy Grail.

In a promotional video for the album posted on Samsung's YouTube account, Jay explains to Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin that the song tackles his own father's absence as well as his own "paranoia of not being a great dad."  That sentiment is reflected in lyrics to the track that were recently released via a Samsung Mobile app promoting the album.

On the track, Jay laments that "father never taught me to be a father."  He also raps that he watched Blue Ivy take her first steps as well as her first breaths, but he admits that he would be "lying" if he said he "wasn't scared" about fatherhood.

Jay-Z plans to release his upcoming album on July 4th to the first one million Samsung Galaxy users who download the promotional app.  Meantime, the rest of the world will have to wait an additional three days before Magna Carta Holy Grail hits stores.
