The live-action remake of “How To Train Your Dragon” soared to the top of the North American box office this weekend.
The movie grossed $83.7-million in its debut, the best opening in the franchise’s history, more than enough to secure the number one spot at the box office. Speaking of live-action remakes: “Lilo & Stitch” took second place this weekend, with a haul of $15.5-million.
The Dakota Johnson rom-com “Materialists” debuted with a solid $12-million. “Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning” took fourth place this time around with a gross of $10.3-million, enough to take the movie past $500-million globally.
Rounding out the top five we’ve got “Ballerina,” falling to fifth place with a take of $9.4-million.
