The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is celebrating Valentine’s Day by offering a weekend packed with opportunities to spread the love to homeless pets.
All adoption fees are reduced to $14 or less* throughout Valentine’s Day weekend, Friday, February 14 – Monday, February 17 (Presidents’ Day). Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services will also be at JHS on Friday, February 14, with dogs available for adoption.
·Blind date matchmaking is back! This service aims to match adopters with dogs they may not have considered, but whose personalities match their lifestyles. Visitors will fill out a survey and staff will arrange a blind date with an adoptable pet. If they feel a connection, folks can take their match on a date-night sleepover or adopt right then! JHS hopes this unique service will create special, and perhaps unexpected, connections.
New this year, JHS invites the community to treat a dog to Dog “Date” Out! Our Dog Day Out program has a special twist this Valentine’s Day weekend thanks to Chewy. Each pet lover and their dog date will spend the day together with a Valentine’s Day date kit tote bag with toys, treats, blankets, and other accessories. Dog Date Out is a great way for folks to share the love with a homeless pet this Valentine’s Day, even if they can’t adopt
Folks interested in adopting or participating in the blind date matchmaking service or Dog Date Out are invited to visit the JHS Adoption & Education Center, 8464 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32216, on the following dates/times:
Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14, 2025, 12pm – 7pm
Saturday and Sunday, February 15 – 16, 2025, from 10am – 5pm
Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 17, 12pm – 4pm
All animals will go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. Additional fees such as a leash and collar, the city rabies licensing fee, or a cat carrier may apply at the time of adoption.
