Gabrielle Union is a mom.
The 46-year-old actress and her husband Dwyane Wade welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, via surrogate Wednesday (November 7).
Gabrielle announced the news on Instagram Thursday (November 8), captioning a series of photos of her holding her newborn daughter alongside her husband at the hospital: "We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl!" Her caption also included the lyrics to the chorus of "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers.
This is Gabrielle's first child and Dwyane's fourth. The baby girl joins half-brothers Zaire, Zavier, and Zion. Dwyane also has custody of his nephew Dahveon. So, that makes for four big brothers to watch over the newest Wade addition. (Good luck, girl!)
Last year, Gabrielle opened up about her struggles with infertility. She detailed her IVF journey in her book "We're Going to Need More Wine," saying, "For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle or coming out of an IVF cycle,." She also revealed that she suffered over eight miscarriages during that time.
Despite their years of failed IVF cycles, the Being Mary Jane star also wrote in her memoir that she and Dwyane had not given up hope on welcoming a new addition to their family one day. "[We] remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of," she wrote.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
