FAMILY #1-DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
I was arrested and spent 3 months in jail for “looking like someone involved in a crime”. I was away from my kids and lost everything. A family member took my kids in but I had to fight to get them back because I didn’t have a place to live. Now I have a place to stay and I’m working hard to get my life back. Unfortunately, this Holiday season, I need clothes, shoes, toys and gifts for my children. I would appreciate any help for me and my family. FAMILY # 2- DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
I had to leave my husband, file for a divorce and have a permanent injunction placed against him, due to his violence. I’m on my own, a single parent, raising my son, with little child support. My monthly expenses are more than my income and I’m struggling to pay the bills. I don’t make a lot but I refuse to let life’s challenges get in my way. I’m currently in college seeking a new life for me and my family, but until I’m able to stand on my own, I need help! All I want is for my son to have the best Christmas without thinking about the financial hardship I’m experiencing. FAMILY #3-DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
I’m a grandmother of 4 grandchildren – 3 girls ages 3, 6, and 7 and one boy age 6. We’re still experiencing the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. It destroyed my life. The insurance company that I paid faithfully is not going to pay for my losses and has turned their back because of a technicality. I don’t know what the next few months will bring. I had to close my in-home licensed childcare of 20 years which drastically changed our family income. We have resorted to going to weekly food pantries to eat and make ends meet. The only reason I have lights on in my home is because an agency paid our utility bill until the end of December. I would like nothing more than to have gifts that bring Christmas Cheer to my family. FAMILY #4-DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
My daughter was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, 2 months ago at age 35, I moved in with her and her 3 children and grandson. I am sick also and I didn’t know how we were going to survive on my small income. Bill collectors and the hospital were calling for payment which we don’t have. Due to her illness and chemo, my daughter was unable to go back to work. Unfortunately, 2 days before Thanksgiving she died. Family and friends had to help me bury her and now I’m not prepared for Christmas, I have nothing! I have a lot on me and I want to ensure that this Christmas will be happy during the children’s first Christmas without their mother and without my daughter. I am a single mother of three beautiful children. I have always been a hard worker but it seems that it’s not good enough. I’m behind on my bills. I had to get a job that is close to the house so I’m able to get my 6, 8, and 9-year-old children from school. I’m looking for another job, but it’s difficult without transportation. I want better for my children but, I’m working from paycheck to paycheck with no extra help. I just can’t do it by myself. My family and I could benefit from some Christmas joy! Please help us!
