Airbnb is being sued by the family of a 19-month old girl who died after coming into contact with fentanyl at a home in Wellington.

Boris and Lydie Lavenir rented the home in August of 2021 and Lydie found her daughter unresponsive and foaming at the mouth. The child was rushed to the hospital and died.

The medical examiner detected a lethal level of fentanyl in the girl's blood. According to court documents, the ME ruled out the possibility that she came into contact with it anywhere else but in the Airbnb rental.

The suit claims Airbnb is responsible because of several instances of drugs being left behind by guests at properties across the U.S.

The property owner, manager and a previous renter are also named in the lawsuit.

Aaron Kornhauser rented out the Wellington home just before the Lavenir's did. The lawsuit claims he allowed people to bring illicit drugs to the premises.

The home is no longer listed on Airbnb.
