The Food and Drug Administration approval of 1st OTC Birth Control Pill

The Food and Drug Administration gave final approval for the first hormonal contraceptive pill to be available in America without a prescription.

In approving the pill, the FDA said it’s being approved for all users of reproductive age, including teenagers, which is expected to reduce the risk of unintended pregnancies

Opill maker HRA Pharma says they don’t expect it to be available until early next year, and have given no estimates for what it will cost

Over-the-counter birth control pills are already available in more than 100 countries
