The 309-bed hospital and outpatient centers extend throughout South Florida and the emergency department is home to South Florida’s only freestanding pediatric trauma center, and one of the most visited ER’s in the United States.
With more than 70 percent of our patients insured by Medicaid, they serve the most diverse, underserved population in the state. Nicklaus Children's is helping children from 119 countries, every state in the US, and every county in Florida. Nicklaus Children’s serves a quarter million patients each year; with 16,000 surgeries each year; 92,000 ER visits each year, and 9,400 patients admitted to the hospital each year
