Race May Play Role In Dementia

Older Black Americans are nearly twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia compared to white Americans, research shows.

It's not clear what causes the discrepancy, but a new study in The Journal of the Alzheimer's Association suggests racial discrimination may play a role.

There's no direct link, but people who reported more instances of discrimination in middle age developed more markers for dementia later in life.
