Back on this day in 1985, Michael Jackson won a bid over Yoko Ono and Paul McCartney to secure the ATV Music Publishing catalog, and was described by industry experts as one of the largest music acquisitions ever by an individual.

At 47.5 million-dollars Jackson gained the rights to 40-thousand song copyrights, including compositions by: Little Richard.
