The Tampa Bay Lightning (26-18-3) defeated the Chicago Blackhawks (15-28-5) 4-3 in overtime on Friday night in Chicago.
The Lightning trailed 3-1 early in the second period before beginning to rally. Nick Paul scored at the 19:52 mark of the second to pull within 3-2. Jake Guentzel scored the equalizer at the 19:19 mark of the third period to tie the game 3-3 and force overtime, before Nikita Kucherov hit the game winner 0:58 into overtime to lift Tampa Bay to the win.
The Lightning are back in action in the second game of a back-to-back on Saturday night against the Red Wings. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Saturday night in Detroit.
