The Weeknd is being honored by the city of Toronto ahead of his concerts in the city. Over the weekend, the singer, born Abel Tesfaye, received a key to the city. In a statement, Mayor Olivia Chow said Tesfaye represents the best of the city.
In addition to donating 500-thousand-dollars to the Scarborough Health Network during the COVID-19 pandemic and contributing to the University of Toronto's Ethiopian Studies program, the singer also co-founded HXOUSE, a local non-profit that supports aspiring creatives and entrepreneurs.
