Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins is remixing TLC’s 1994 smash “Creep” for a cause -- teaming with Gilead on “So We PrEP,” a reimagined version that promotes HIV prevention and sexual health education.
The track is part of Gilead’s Care for the Culture campaign, which focuses on closing HIV awareness and access gaps in Black communities, where disparities remain severe.
Watkins says the update continues the mission TLC started with songs like “Waterfalls”: using mainstream R&B to address real-life issues. According to Gilead, only 14 percent of PrEP users in the U.S. are Black, despite Black communities accounting for 42 percent of new HIV diagnoses.
By pairing one of the ’90s’ most recognizable hooks with an empowerment message built around protection and pride, T-Boz hopes to spark more open, culturally grounded conversations about prevention and care.
