TSA Launches New Program To Streamline Screening

The Transportation Security Administration is rolling out TSA Gold+, a new public-private airport screening program designed to keep security lines moving even during government shutdowns.

The initiative expands on the agency’s existing private contractor model by letting airports opt into customized screening partnerships backed by private industry funding and TSA oversight.

The push comes after a recent shutdown left tens of thousands of TSA workers unpaid and caused massive airport delays, prompting renewed conversations about partially privatizing airport security.

Travelers likely won’t notice immediate changes, but the long-term goal is faster screenings, more modern technology, and fewer disruptions tied to federal budget battles.
