This Year Halloween spending is expected to hit a record $13.5-billion this year, with costumes, decorations and candy once again leading the way.
Consumers are projected to spend $4.4-billion on costumes, $4.3-billion on decorations and another $4.1-billion on candy, with discount stores being the most popular place to shop.
What’s new this year is that nearly half of consumers say they’re using AI tools to help plan Halloween purchases, especially for brainstorming costumes and decorating ideas.
Some good news is that more people are keeping it local; shopping at local and small businesses has nearly doubled over the past decade, rising from 7% in 2016 to 13% this year.
