A small private jet crashed Sunday afternoon near a residential neighborhood in Palm Beach County, sparking a large emergency response and road closures in the area. The aircraft, a Learjet 60 with nine people on board, had departed from Austin, Texas, and was en route to the Bahamas when it went down shortly after noon.

Fire rescue crews and law enforcement quickly responded to the scene as officials worked to assess injuries and secure the area. Military Trail was temporarily shut down between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North to allow emergency personnel access.

Federal aviation authorities, including the FAA and NTSB, have launched an investigation to determine what caused the crash. Additional details are expected as the investigation continues.
