Octavia Spencer won her first Emmy for Outstanding Narrator for Investigation Discovery’s “Lost Women of Alaska,” adding to her impressive list of acting honors.
The Oscar-winning actress has previously been nominated for Emmys and other prestigious awards, making this win a significant milestone in her career. Spencer's interest in true crime, the genre of the winning show, dates back to her childhood.
The series focuses on missing and murdered Indigenous women, with Spencer's narration guiding viewers through the stories. At 98, Spencer's win also kept Norman Lear as the oldest Emmy winner, while Sir David Attenborough, 100, had been seeking the distinction with two nominations in the same category.
