(Miami, Fla) - South Florida Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar voted against the motion to vacate the Speaker of the House seat brought by fellow Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz.
Rep. Salazar said Speaker Kevin McCarthy was doing a very good job in a difficult environment. She added that spending is the problem and McCarthy was on it.
Now she hopes the House moves on and elects a new Speaker next week. She says the priority is to concentrate on cutting spending and securing the border.
Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz forced the vote after Kevin McCarthy worked with Democrats to pass a short-term government spending bill.
