Cape Canaveral, FL - Florida’s Space Coast will light up Monday as Amazon prepares to launch the first satellites for its Project Kuiper internet constellation.

The highly anticipated liftoff is scheduled for April 28th during a two-hour launch window opening at 7 p.m. from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Launch Complex 41.

The mission will be carried out by a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket equipped with five solid boosters, sending the initial batch of low-Earth orbit satellites into space.

An earlier attempt on April 9 was postponed due to poor weather.

Viewers across Florida’s east coast, from Jacksonville Beach to West Palm Beach, could catch a glimpse of the rocket’s bright trail, especially if skies remain clear.

These late-day launches create spectacular visuals, with the rocket’s glow cutting through the darkness and leaving behind a striking contrail.

Amazon’s Project Kuiper aims to provide satellite-based internet service, targeting underserved regions across the globe.

This launch marks a pivotal step in that mission.

For those hoping to witness the event, the best viewing spots are along Brevard County’s beaches, riverfront parks, and causeways.

Popular locations include Playalinda Beach, Jetty Park, Max Brewer Bridge, and Cocoa Beach Pier.

Visibility depends on weather and location, so spectators are encouraged to arrive early and check live radar updates.

Florida Today will stream the event live at floridatoday.com/space, beginning two hours before liftoff.

For locals and tourists alike, this is a chance to experience the magic of a rocket launch in true Florida fashion, barefoot on the beach, eyes on the stars.
