Homeowners in one South Florida city will soon get a discount on flood insurance.
Boca Raton earned points in the federal government's Community Rating System and that means a 25 percent discount on federal flood insurance for those who own homes there.
The city has notified homeowners that the discount will jump from 15 percent to 25 percent after meeting requirements in the program for flood management and mitigation.
City officials say the added savings take effect October 1st and homeowners are advised to check with their provider at that time to see when the new discount will be reflected in their policies.
