Some students at Howard University have begun a week-long spring break dedicated to community service.
About 13-hundred students are taking part in the 32nd edition of the university's alternative spring break. Some students will undertake service projects in the DC area, while others will travel to cities and towns in more than a dozen states.
The historically Black university says the effort is among the largest spring break service initiatives in the U.S.
