Uncle Steve and The Crew Talk About "TILL" Movie

Did you guys get a chance to see the movie, “TILL” over the weekend? We all know the story of Emmett Till… Emmett was a 14-year-old boy living in Chicago back in 1955 and he went to Mississippi to visit his cousins and he was brutally lynched. His mother, Mamie Till Mobley, turned her loss into a legacy. The movie, “TILL” is a true story of how courageous Emmett Till’s mother was back in 1955. The story is told from Emmett’s mother’s point of view and that’s what makes the movie, “TILL,” unique. After losing her only child, Mamie Till Mobley showed incredible strength as she turned her pain into purpose. Mamie knew the power of an image and made sure that the world saw what happened to her son. “TILL” is a movie by Black creators that made a conscious choice not to show violence towards Black people in this movie, so the movie does not depict Emmett Till’s lynching at all. It is incredibly important to continue to tell the truth about what happened to Emmett Till. The Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Bill was just passed this year, in 2022, 67 years after his murder. This is our history.
